A regular to the Rednetic shores, Stuart Bowditch brings us a new project under his Lachrylic name. Woven into the dub infused rhythms and sub heavy bass are melodies that have a distinct Hybernation flavour. Lachrylic's last outing was on the Southend based micro label Courier Sound contributing a mini CD of "synthy, spacey electronics, inspired by the sun". It garnered some great reviews as seen below.
Sensory Overdub's sound is an evolution from the previous release mentioned above. It has a distinct bottom end making it a perfect addition to the Rednetic catalogue. The tracks themselves are an evolution of sounds as well, mirrored perfectly by the incremental changes in track names through the album. Facet transforms into Faces for example. The whole album comes in at an extremely tidy 44.44, with wonderfully sharp artwork by Bruno Lasnier from Milk Industries.
The CD Critic
"Bowditch's compositions create wonderful images and impressions, building up the album nicely, all of which is presented in a great style by the music included."
"Most of the album's effects are quite subtle, giving the songs a nice element to them."
"a very enjoyable record"
"Atmospheric and expansive"
"Ultimately the elusive nature of the album's forty-five minutes suggests that the general characterization of it as electronica is perhaps the safest route to take. Like the track titles, the album's a playful and slippery creature, though also, it should be said, one distinguished by impressive degrees of polish and artfulness."
